    Tina Huynh, executive assistant
    Young Professionals Windsor is pleased to welcome Tina Huynh to its volunteer team!

    Tina joins Young Professionals Windsor through her participation in the University of Windsor’s Volunteer Internship Program.

    She currently serves the Young Professionals Windsor as an executive assistant, helping primarily to develop outreach strategies and event planning.

    Tina attends the University of Windsor, where she is completing a bachelor of science in biological science and minor in biochemistry. She is an active member of the community, acting as president of Bug Off, a student-led group at the university. She also volunteers at Cystic Fibrosis Canada and her local Linh Son Temple.

  • Young workers in poor job market topic of UWindsor panel discussion

    Unemployment rates have risen steadily since the last economic recession. In Windsor, unemployment dropped from 12.9 per cent a year ago to 9.7 per cent. But young professionals face challenges to entering or advancing in the job market due to inexperience, competition and employment shifts.

    The University of Windsor is holding a panel discussion this afternoon titled “Uncertain Times: Precarious Employment and Young Workers” to address the issue.

    The free public discussion is taking place Monday, February 7 at 3 p.m. in Vanier Hall’s Katzman Lounge. The event is hosted by the labour studies program and the Windsor Workers’ Action Centre.

    The panelists include:

    • Zachary Gerard, history student, University of Windsor
    • Wayne Lewchuk, professor of economics and labour studies, McMaster University
    • Kendra Coulter, professor of sociology and anthropology, University of Windsor
    • Alan Hall, professor and director of labour studies, University of Windsor

  • Sharpen your resume writing skills at university workshop

    Starting a career is a scary thought for many graduating students. Entering the job market armed with a professional resume is a great way to build confidence and show off your best qualities to employers.

    The university’s Social Work Student Association and Women’s Studies Student Association are hosting a Skills Building Workshop on Wednesday, February 2 that focuses on writing professional resumes.

    The workshop, geared toward graduating University of Windsor students, runs from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. in McPherson Lounge, Alumni Hall.
